Project Before Mission Statement

Our program is called PROJECT BEFORE and we offer a half day program for children ages 3 to 5 years with mild to moderate disabilities, as well as a full day program for children of the same age with moderate disabilities that require a greater degree of time and attention.  We also have an Integrated Preschool class. Speech therapy, as well as occupational and physical therapy, are provided for those students who are eligible.

Our warm, nurturing and “kid friendly” environment is the key to our success with our students.  Areas of concentration in our curricular program include the improvement of gross motor skills, fine motor skills, pre-kindergarten readiness skills, speech and language skills, as well as the social and emotional skills necessary for intellectual and social development.

Throughout the year we celebrate and honor a variety of holidays and events.  These include:  a dragon parade for the Chinese new year, a Valentine’s Day formal, a pajama party for Dr Seuss’s birthday, a Mother’s day brunch, Carnival Day at the end of the year, a Halloween party and parade, a Thanksgiving feast, and a visit from Santa at our Holiday party.  We also include field trips in our program some of which are a trip to the pumpkin patch and the zoo.  The Middle School Student Council comes to visit and spend a day of fun and learning with games, crafts, stories, and treats.

Making learning fun is our goal and our students’ smiles let us know we are succeeding in providing a program that meets their individual needs.
