School Fax # (732) 727-3716 * The SUES is going GREEN!
In an effort to save paper we are now sending flyers
and some information electronically to parents.
Starting Monday, April 30 the fifth grade will be
battling the fourth grade to see who can raise the most money to Fight the War
against Cancer. The war will last
three weeks. The victorious grade
will be treated to a Rita’s Ice Party and all money will go to Team SUES at the
Relay for Life event we are participating in on May 19.
How a Penny War works:
During your lunch period, there will be two water
jugs, 1 labeled 5th grade and one labeled 4th grade. The object of the Penny War is to
collect the most pennies. Pennies
count as one point, toward your total amount.
You do not want to put anything but pennies into your grades jug. Any other coins or bills in your jug
will be deducted from your total amount.
Quarters are worth 25 points, dimes worth 10 points, nickels worth 5
points and one dollar bills are worth 100 points.
Please do not bring in anything over a one dollar bill.
In your own jug you want to put pennies, in the other
grade’s jug you want to put all other types of coins and bills so that it gets
deducted from their total.
In the cafeteria the point value of each coin will be
displayed. There will also be a
running tally of how much each grade as earned.
That will be calculated every other day. Why are we having a penny war? We are doing our small part to win the war against Cancer. All the money we raise is going to go the American Cancer Soc
