Fund Raisers:
The PTO is excited to be sponsoring fundraisers this year!!!  We offer many different types of fundraisers as a means to raise money for the PTO so we may continue to provide a variety of programs and activities for the children.  Although you are not required to participate in any fundraisers, we do appreciate your support. Please contact Gina Costa-Goldfarb at mommag1010@msn.com or 971-882-2402 with any questions on fundraisers. Thank you for your past and continued support!

BJ's Fundraiser - will begin in April. See link for application above.

Boxtops/Labels for Education - We collect the rectangular Box Tops for Education from General Mills products, Labels for Education UPC’s from Campbells and Pepperidge Farm products, and Tyson A+ labels.  We have met our school-wide goal of 16,000 labels/box tops this year!  As a special treat, we will be throwing water balloons at Mr. Byrne on the last day of school, weather permitting!

We have collected over 4,000 so far this year! Contact Cheryl  Balka 732-721-1965 or Theresa Matthaey 732-525-0626 with any questions. Thank you for your continued support.

Restaurant Proceeds Nights - Our most recent Proceeds Night, held at Friendly's, brought in $200. There may be another proceeds night at Chuckie Cheese to wrap up the year.

Soda Can Tab Collection - Arleth is collecting soda can tabs again to benefit the Ronald McDonald House in New Brunswick.  Last year we collected approx. 150,000 tabs! Please send in our tabs with your child in an envelope or baggie.  The Ronald McDonald House is able to use the proceeds from the tab recycling to help support their efforts to provide housing for families of hospitalized children.  Contact Charlene Juenemann at 732-316-1918 with any questions.

News:

Become a Library Champion - Mrs. Gunter announced the NJ State Library's new program. Sign up at: http://njlibrarychampions.org/ and support your school and public libraries while taking part in fun activities and contests.

Book-It! Party - 170 children who reached their reading goal every month will be attending this celebration on June 16 on the playground at 1:30pm.

Brain Challenge - will be held on June 22 at 9:15 and 10:15am.

Class Parties - June 23. Children will receive ice cream at lunchtime. Class Parents may go to the classrooms afterwards. The PTO will be dropping off the class gifts (duffle bags, towels, lunch bags, "alumni" bags) before the parties.

Field Day - on June 11th was one of the best ever! Thank you to all who helped with events, hospitality, lunch room service, and for providing the dunk tank, inflatable, and DJ!

Recycling - Arleth continues to recycle empty printer cartridges, and cell phones year round. They are collected in the library by Mrs. Gunter. Batteries will no longer be collected by Mrs. Comerford's class. New regulations permit disposal of batteries except for button type batteries and rechargeables.

Smencil Grams - orders have been coming in and will go home with the children on the last day of school.

Third Grade Activities - The moving up party is planned for Fri. June 18th. Permission slips need to be returned to the PTO for the DVD pictures. The third graders will be having a talent show that day as well.

Used Books - The used book sale will take place on Mon. and Tues. June 14 and 15 to kick off summer reading. Most books will be 5, 10, or 25 cents each with special items available at 50 cents or one dollar. A small number of books with sound, DVD's, and sets will be raffled off for 10 cents a ticket. The proceeds will be donated to the PTO to help offset the cost of Mr. Zorner's piano.

Class Parents - Two to Three class parents were chosen to act equally for each class.  Please note you must be an active member of the PTO Executive Board in order to be a class parent.  If you are not already a member of the Executive Board and are interested in joining, please contact Andrea Califano at 732-238-4803, or Gina Goldfarb at mommag1010@msn.com or 917-882-2402.

Election Committee - Voting plays a very important part in your child’s education.  Being a registered voter can determine the quality of education your child receives. If you are not a registered voter, please do so. Voter registration forms are available at the PTO meetings.
